The Problem
Roommates often struggle with clear and comfortable communication, leading to unresolved conflicts, poor organization, and unnecessary tension in shared living spaces.
With 60% of individuals reporting problems with their roommates and 85% admitting to avoiding conflicts altogether (Halpin, 2009), communication challenges are a widespread issue in shared living environments. Despite the growing emphasis on healthy cohabitation, many people rely on outdated methods like passive-aggressive notes or awkward in-person confrontations to manage household issues. Existing tools like Nipto, Splid, Cozi, and Google Calendar offer solutions for chore management, expense tracking, or scheduling, but none centralize all these features in one place with anonymous communication. Roominate fills this gap, combining anonymous alerts, shared scheduling, personalized roommate profiles, and expense tracking into a single app designed to streamline living arrangements, reduce conflicts, and foster harmony.
