Social Media Projects

Below is a selection of graphics, videos, and documents I’ve created for various social media accounts with a range of communication goals. Each graphic is designed to capture attention, communicate key messages clearly, in styles that are reflective of each group’s values. From scientific infographics to promotional content, I use a blend of colour, layout design, and audience-tailored visuals to ensure that each piece resonates with its intended audience.

UBC HIVE Graphics

In my role with the University of British Columbia Hackspace for Innovation and Education (UBC HIVE), I create graphics to communicate lab events and achievements. These visuals have an academic yet playful, cartoon-inspired style, designed to make complex scientific concepts accessible. Primarily, the graphics serve to update and inform the broader science community, translating challenging ideas into easily digestible content that fosters engagement and understanding.

TEDxUBC Graphics

This year, TEDxUBC is embracing an approachable scrapbook theme for graphics to reflect TEDxUBC’s roots as a student-built organisation. With the event returning after a three-year hiatus, we aim to capture the vibrant energy and creativity of our community through this design approach. The scrapbook aesthetic highlights both the personal and collective journey of TEDxUBC as we reconnect and rebuild, offering a fresh, nostalgic feel while honouring the past and looking toward the future.

The Bright Doctor

At The Bright Doctor, I am responsible for writing, filming, and editing video campaigns, crafting content with a relatable, engaging style to connect with our audience of aspiring medical students. Each video draws on real-world scenarios and popular trends, with a conversational tone. By leveraging Instagram and TikTok trend analytics, I develop content that aligns with trending topics, formats, and aesthetics, creating videos that resonates with what viewers are already engaging with on social media, balancing informative depth with entertainment value. This targeted approach boosts brand visibility and engagement rates by attracting new viewers while retaining current followers. Through iterative refinement, I continuously adapt our content style to stay relevant, appealing in a competitive social media landscape, and achieving over 200,000 views.

UBC Science Undergraduate Society

As a producer for the UBC Science Undergraduate Society (SUS), I lead media projects designed to engage, inform, and unite UBC science students. SUS aims to reach science students through entertaining and relatable content, creating skit-driven and trend-inspired projects that resonate with the community while highlighting key resources like mental health initiatives and academic opportunities.

My work includes short-form videos, podcasts, and informative skits, all crafted to balance entertainment with meaningful messaging. Last year, my team’s content garnered over 500,000 views across platforms, contributing to SUS Productions being awarded AMS Constituency of the Year. I collaborated with groups like the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion working group and incorporated input from students outside of SUS to ensure our projects reflected the values and needs of the broader community.

This project I directed was created to entertain the 7,803 students in the UBC Science Undergraduate Society, following the popular "odd man out" format. As the largest-scale project our team has executed, it involved casting science students from outside SUS, coordinating schedules, and managing multiple production elements. Through this experience, I gained significant logistical expertise, as well as skills in team coordination and creative problem-solving. I applied principles of UX design to streamline the production process, creating intuitive workflows and improving collaboration between team members.

This is a sample organisation document I made for a large scale SUS production project. It was designed for a diverse skill range, where every participant takes on both cast and crew responsibilities for a cooking competition. The document outlines roles, schedules, and logistics to ensure smooth coordination and a successful event. I focussed on making the document clear, intuitive, educational, and accessible, to ensure that all participants, regardless of their role or experience level, could easily navigate the information and contribute to the production process efficiently. I incorperated colour and made use of typographic emphasis.

UBC Muay Thai

UBC Muay Thai is an AMS club dedicated to promoting both mental and physical wellness through the martial art of Muay Thai. As the largest martial arts club at UBC, with over 150 paying members and more than 300 participants each semester, the club focuses on fostering a strong sense of community. I create engaging graphics and media with the goal of highlighting members and giving them a platform to shine.

My short-form, trend-driven videos have achieved an 160% increase in engagement, a 58% growth in total followers, 150,000 video views, and a reach of over 70,000 accounts on Instagram. Additionally, I initiated the "Member of the Month" program, featuring a yearbook-style graphic to motivate members to embody the club's core values, contributing to the positive and inclusive club culture.
